![]() ![]() But that of course goes wth any new piece of equipment, not reading the manual and instead only looking at some video's really doesn't cut it (you don't know how to really driive a car after a few lessons )Īs the other guy said, if you upgrade to the D750, only the single FX lens will be relevant, and you will probably need to buy at least another couple of FX lenses. But to get the best results, it take time, practice and patience to get the best out of it. I still use my 2018 Z6 along side my Z7II for catwalk, dance and event (even sold my D850 after using it, less and less, alongside my 2 2018 bought Z6's). Not that the Z6 has a bad AF, it realy is much better then the internet 'experts' claim. While the Z6's AF has significatly improved since its introduction in 2018 thanks to several FW updates, an advanced DSLR like the D750 will despite its age beat it when shooting fast erratic moving subjects, like BIF or fast runing dogs, or in low light, low contract, extreme backlit situations. Withh regards to the question D750 or Z6, IMX the major consideration is how high your demands on the AF are. Whle the D5500 has improved over the D7100 with regards to eg AF and buffer, IMX as far as higfh ISO and IQ it really isn't that much better. (I shot a lot of catwalk, danvce and event, which put high demands on the high ISO performance, with the D2X nx ISO 800, and the D3 up to ISO 6400).ĭid have a D7100 as a grab and go body, as well s a D300, for some time, but while the high ISO perfamce up to, yhough definitely not over ISO 3200, was better then the D2X, that was, similar to the IQ, still inferior compared to the several Nikon FX bodies I also have had. While both 12 megapixels, the difference in IQ and high ISO performance was truly significant and opend new photographic possibilties for me. That said, I switched from DX, a D2X, ti FX, a D3, in 2008, and never looked back. Which makes the switch not only less simple, but also more expensive. To really be taking advantage of swiitching fom DX to FX, you weill also have to get FX lenses as well. If you want to continue your current lenses, buying a FX canera, DSLR or mirrorless, won't make a difference, with exception of the one FX lensįor tre rest, both a D750 and Z6 will register that you've mounted a DX lens and switch to DX mode, so you'll end up with a cropped format similar to your D5500. ![]() But the real question is whether or not I should spend the extra few hundred on something like the Z6? Would it make more sense to just buy an adapter and utilize the DX and FX lenses I already have or should I stay with an F mount camera?Īny advice would be much appreciated, especially if you had to make a similar decision when you upgraded! Thanks! ![]() I currently have 4 DX lenses and 1 FX lens, so if I upgrade to something like a D750, I wouldn't need any adapters. I'm looking to upgrade from my current camera, a Nikon D5500, to something full frame. ![]()
